Mary L. Gary, Veterinarian/Owner
I was born and raised in Grant County, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994, I worked in a variety of practice situations to gain a diversified knowledge of medicine and surgery as well as practice management. My professional interests include wellness care and practice management. My diversified experience has allowed me to bring some innovative ideas to the hospital such as individualized pet care and laser therapy. I have recently attended continuing education symposiums on feline medicine and laser therapy. My personal interests include outdoor family recreation such as camping, canoeing, bicycling, running, and horseback riding with my two boys. I also enjoy reading, bowling, cooking and geneology.
Paige Howard, RVT
I graduated from Purdue University in 2007 with my AS, and in 2008 with my BS, in Veterinary Technology. My favorite duties as an RVT are performing anesthesia and assisting in surgery. I enjoy meeting clients and providing them with quality care for their pet. To aid in this, I recently completed an educational program to become certified as a nutritional advocate. I have a dog named Lady and I enjoy working on my brother’s boer goats, as well as my husband’s show pigs. My true passions are herd health, agriculture, and modern farm production. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, crafts, and being outside.

Sheila Smith, Client Care Specialist
My husband Ray and I have five children and seventeen grandkids. I am also the mother of three furry kids…a lab-rottweiler mix named Jackson, a pomapoo named Ebbie, and a very funny “wire-haired bassett” named Murray. I have worn many “hats” in my working career but this one fits the best. I absolutely love meeting all of our patients and their parents. I also love working with this group of people. I don’t know a more dedicated Doctor and staff. Welcome to Hometown Animal Hospital!

He won the Reserve Champion Cat at the Grant County 4-H fair in 2009 and now spends most of his time sleeping on the front counter and being drill sargent at our kitty boot camp. Bob came to us in 2010 when he was found with 2 littermates in a cornfield near Dr. Gary’s home. He won Grant County Grand Champion Cat in 2011 and Reserve Champion Cat in 2012 & 2013. He spends his time sleeping in Dr. Gary’s chair or watching from his perch on top of the cabinets in the pharmacy.
